Emperor Moricar (also called Moricar the Middling) was the second member of the Reachman dynasty called the Longhouse Emperors who ruled the Empire of Cyrodiil during the Interregnum. He was preceded by his father, Durcorach, and succeeded by his son, Leovic.

BiographyEdit

Early LifeEdit

During his youth, Moricar was raised in the ancient tradition of the Reach. After his father Durcorach conquered Cyrodiil, he attempted to embrace Imperial culture and appointed Imperial tutors to educate young Moricar, including Abnur Tharn. This upbringing gave Moricar a unique insight on the world in a way his father never had. As Moricar grew older he became a vital advisor to his father. After Durcorach was killed during his attempted invasion of High Rock In 2E 541, Moricar declared himself Emperor at twenty-three-years-old and negotiated peace with High Rock. Emperor Moricar's own son, Leovic, was born in 2E 542.

Four AmbitionsEdit

Like his father, Moricar continued to honor and fulfill the pact made with the various Daedric Princes, including the bargain struck with Mehrunes Dagon. Preparations and rituals were conducted in secret by his hidden Daedric priesthood, even as Moricar sought to expand the reach of his reign.

During Moricar's reign, when Prince Leovic returned to the Imperial City after a successful campaign against border raiders, the Emperor allowed his son to name his reward; Leovic requested and was granted Clivia Tharn's hand in marriage.

Emperor Moricar maintained quite a collection of shadowy figures among his advisors—witchfolk from the Reach, mystics, charlatans, favor-seekers, influence-peddlers, and more. Disastrix Celdina, a member of the Waking Flame, came to the White-Gold Tower in 2E 556 or 557, and was seen constantly at his side. Mehrunes Dagon appeared to her in a dream and instructed her to bear a child for Moricar, and they were married in obedience with Dagon, who also commanded that no one was to know the truth of the child's parentage. Celdina became pregnant in 2E 560 and disappeared from the court to give birth to Mairead, the fox of the Four Ambitions and Moricar's secret daughter. Moricar was distrustful of the Prince and as a contingency, prepared Mairead and the other Four Ambitions as weapons that could call forth the power to banish Dagon.

In 2E 561, Emperor Moricar and his son Leovic spent much of their time locked away in parts of the Imperial Palace that were now off-limits to everyone but a select few. Busy preparing a sacrifice to Mehrunes Dagon with rituals that would finally see the creation of the long-promised Daedric Weapons. They finally emerged a year later, at which time Moricar began planning his next conquest—the total subjugation of Western Skyrim.

Invasion of SkyrimEdit

In 2E 563, Emperor Moricar led his forces out of the Reach and into High King Svargrim's territory. They met no resistance until they approached the gates of Solitude. There, High King Svargrim's massive army fell upon Moricar's forces, routing them in a single battle.

Moricar returned to Imperial City, defeated and gravely wounded. Despite the best attempts of both Imperial and Reach healers, Moricar never recovered from his injuries. He died in 2E 564 and was succeeded by his son, Leovic. Upon his death, Moricar's soul was sent to the Deadlands.
